BVuNiversity

BVN is thrilled to introduce BVuNiversity!

Since its inception, BVN has worked side-by-side with the best bloggers and vloggers, creators and designers, blogger management teams, and event management teams to make helpful information widely available to the bloggers and vloggers of Second Life.  Through the strong, supportive and inclusive network that BVN has become, bloggers and vloggers, new and old, have learned invaluable tips, tricks, and tools that have helped them reach their artistic, promotional, and marketing goals.  While dozens of live presentations, group discussions, meet-and-greet events, and creative challenges have been shared with the community, we have been asked many times for a more instructive, personalized, and informative platform that dives deep into specific topics.

BVuNiversity has been created to help the Second Life community discover and pursue blogging and vlogging excellence.  Courses have been specifically designed to provide the most support in helping learners grow and achieve even the loftiest of goals.  Each instructor at BVuNiversity is considered an expert in their field.  Each is committed to providing excellence in education, tailored to the needs of the student.  BVuNiversity offers a full tuition package which takes students through all twelve courses, week-by-week, for a full, immersive educational experience.  The opportunity also exists for students to sign up for an a la carte package, where classes are selected individually to suit specific needs and desires.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How much do the courses cost?

BVuNiversity learners may sign up for all twelve (12) courses as part of a tuition package, or can purchase individual passes for each class.

  • Tuition for all the courses offered is 10,000L per student.
  • If classes are taken a la carte (individually), each pass is 1500L per student.
  • Tuition may not be split among several avatars, including alts.
  • BVuNiversity has a strict no-refund policy.  Please be certain you are signing up for the package you want before paying your tuition.

How do BVuNiversity courses differ from the free BVN presentations?

BVuNiversity courses are tailored to be instructional in order to meet the needs of the students.  Clear objectives are defined at the beginning of each course, and each is designed to help bloggers and vloggers succeed at their individual goals.  The discussions and presentations offered by BVN are based on the experience of the speakers.  The free presentations are intended to be suited for all audiences, not those looking for educational and interactive lessons.

Is this the end of the free BVN presentations?

Absolutely not.  BVN is as committed to the Second Life blogging and vlogging community as ever.  BVuNiversity is simply another way in which BVN is providing support.

What if I cannot make a class?

Because of the hands-on and highly individualized nature of the BVuNiversity courses, they will not be recorded or streamed.  If you must miss a class, you can always take it again the following term on an a la carte basis.  BVN does not offer refunds, and does not carry balances forward for missed courses.  If you are unsure if you will be able to make all twelve (12) lessons, signing up for the courses individually is most likely your best option.

Can anyone take these classes?

Yes.  Anyone on the grid who is interested in learning more about the specific topics is welcome to take classes at BVuNiversity.  Avatars of all types and with any level of experience are welcome to attend.

What do I do if I encounter someone who is disruptive or abusive?

All staff, instructors and learners have the right to be free from disruptive or abusive behavior, including threats and harassment, which detracts from the purpose of BVuNiversity.  Any individual clearly obstructing another’s ability to learn in a peaceful environment will be ejected and banned.  Any retaliation against those who report disruptive or abusive behavior will also be ejected and banned.

Why are you charging for BVuNiversity?

Since the inception of BVN, the Founders have personally funded all activities including land, staff expenses, website presence, contests and prizes, streaming services, special exclusive creations, and much more.  We have been truly blessed by the generosity of our presenters and contributors, as they have volunteered countless hours to support the success of this dynamic network.  The founders have personally spent upwards of 400,000L (about $1,600USD/1,400 Euro) to support this endeavor.  While we consider BVN a service and not a profit center, we cannot continue to count on the kindness of others and our own wallets alone to keep BVN afloat.  As a result, we made the decision to compensate BVuNiversity instructors for their time and efforts, take an aggressive stance on marketing efforts, pay for the land that BVuNiversity will need, and recoup some of our costs.

If anyone can attend, why is there an application process?

BVuNiversity wants to focus on individualized instruction to the extent possible.  We are limiting each course to a maximum of thirty-five (35) students.

I applied. Now what?

  1. Fill out the Application Form.
  2. Please allow the BVN Founders a few days to process your application and ensure your attendance at all the classes you signed up for.
  3. You will receive an acceptance notecard in-world with instructions on how to pay and your payment deadline.
NOTE: Learners who sign up for the full tuition package of 10,000L for twelve (12) courses will be given priority seating. All others will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
